Our Services
We offer various Substance Abuse Professional, or SAP, services to accommodate your needs. We can provide a detailed assessment, whether you need a DOT return-to-duty assessment, a court-ordered substance abuse assessment or a non-CA DUI substance abuse assessment.
If you violated the Department of Transportation rules regarding drugs and alcohol, you need to get an assessment from a qualified professional. Our substance abuse professionals can provide a Stockton DOT evaluation, helping you return to work as soon as possible.
In some cases, a court or attorney may recommend a SAP evaluation. This process takes 1–2 hours to complete. If you need a court-ordered SAP evaluation in Stockton, California, we can help.
Drivers who receive a DUI may be subject to a DUI Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) evaluation. This is another type of court-ordered evaluation, but the goal is to determine whether you have a substance abuse condition. You may also be required to undergo treatment as ordered by the court.
What Should You Expect?
The process is slightly different for each type of SAP evaluation in Stockton, California. Let's examine what you can expect for each type of assessment.
A DOT SAP evaluation typically involves an hour-long screening to determine if you have a problem. This screening can be done online or in person. Next, we recommend education classes or treatment based on the results of our screening. After you complete the required education and report that to your employer, we do a follow-up evaluation that may include follow-up testing and an after-care plan.
Court-ordered SAP evaluations work differently. The entire in-person appointment takes up to 2 hours, but it involves several individual steps:
- A Diagnostic Interview Schedule-IV
- An ASI, Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test and SASSI Assessment Tool
- Provision of names of collateral contacts who can report to professionals about your substance use
- Mental health screening
- Review of documents related to your case
- Follow-up consultation 2-4 weeks after your appointment
If you received a DUI outside California, you may be required to undergo an assessment and take part in treatment or similar programs. Your DUI AOD Evaluation includes a screening to determine what education or treatment is right for you. This may include AA or NA meetings, substance abuse education classes or counseling sessions. When your assessment is complete, we send a written copy to the appropriate agencies.
